Pope Francis pays tribute to St. John Paul II

April 27, 2015

Pope Francis met with members of the John Paul II Foundation during an April 25 audience that took place in the Clementine Hall of the Apostolic Palace.

Paying tribute to St. John Paul II, who led the Church from 1978 to 2005, Pope Francis thanked the foundation for working to ensure “that the spiritual heritage of this holy Pontiff continues to fertilize the large field of the Church and to support her journey through history.”

St. John Paul’s “rich Magisterium of social doctrine” continues to be timely, Pope Francis added, as he praised the Foundation for its initiatives, particularly with youth.
