Pope Francis has tentatively agreed to a power-sharing arrangement, with details still being negotiated.

A formal Vatican announcement of the unprecedented change is anticipated on Wednesday, April 1. That date coincides with...

You got me for a brief moment :) However, this brings me to a reflection that mentioning the name of a retired Diocesan Bishop in the Eucharistic Prayer makes as much sense as mentioning the name of retired Pope next to the current Pope. It’s just something that should not be taking place.

While it's understandable to want something to joke about with so much confusion today, it's understandable that this would be upsetting. The one-hour blackout of St. Peter's - while factual- actually seems more understandable as a possible April Fool's story. But particularly with recent news of Pope Benedict's further decline in health... There are simply too many news stories involving important church officials today that make one wonder: "Can this really be happening?" Humor wanes.

Contrary1995, you need a sense of humor on April 1 And you will have lost a precious source of information. So, get off your grumpiness and get back in the donor line. :)

Geez, "Contrary 1995," get a life! I didn't think it was all that funny either, but I'm not going to get all bent out of shape over it. Just smile and move on! If I didnt like a joke you might tell, as long as it was not harmful, I wouldn't dislike you for telling it. Try being kind to others with whom you disagree!

I find that April 1st thing a terrible American custom! But well, at least we're not having a schism so that's good.

Contrary1995 - don't be sore that you were fooled. St. Thomas Aquinas himself defends the virtue of eutrapelia = playfulness.

    Wish it were true.

You will pay for that :-)

Lighten up, Contrary, this was the most obvious April Fool's joke in history. Besides, if that had happened, the blogosphere would have gone hot with it yesterday.

Worse things could happen. I mean, haven't there have been two popes at once in the past? They weren't exactly sharing power, although I wasn't alive then to know for sure. Further, I don't think I will be alive should it happen again. April Fool's Day back at you!

:-D I loved it. One commenter seems to overestimate the dangerousness of a bit of leg-pulling.

Even my Baptist friends were taken in - for about 5 seconds! Nice!

Your light humor was welcome as I read through the secular news from 3/31/2015 that was no joke. Thanks!

With everything happening in the Catholic World now, a sense of humor is more necessary than ever.

I thought it was quite humorous and apt. Have a spiritually edifying Triduum and a blessed Easter season.

You just lost a donor. This was stupid and irresponsible.
