Traditionalist bishops plan more illicit episcopal ordinations

March 31, 2015

Bishop Jean-Michel Faure, the traditionalist prelate who was ordained earlier this month in defiance of the Vatican, has disclosed that more illicit episcopal ordinations are planned.

Bishop Faure, who was ordained in Brazil by Bishop Richard Williamson, told reporters that their schismatic group already has two candidates for future episcipal ordination.

Bishops Williamson and Faure are both former members of the traditionalist Society of St. Pius X. They have broken with that group, as well as with the Holy See, to set up what Bishop Faure called “the Resistance.”

“We follow the Popes of the past, not the current one,” Bishop Faure said.

Both Bishops Williamson and Faure incurred the penalty of automatic excommunication because of their participation in a ceremony ordaining a Catholic bishop without approval from Rome.

As one who leans traditionalist, this saddens me. One cannot simply ignore the Vatican and be disobedient to the Church. One can find ways to practice the TLM. Live their life with similarly thinking and tradition minded Catholics. But one cannot claim tradition and be disobedient. Nope.
