Over 1,000 missionaries killed since 1980

Since 1980, at least 1,062 Catholic missionaries have been killed, according to Fides, the news agency of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.

115 were killed in the 1980s and 604 in the 1990s; at least 248 perished during the Rwandan Genocide (1994).
