Date announced for Archbishop Romero’s beatification

Archbishop Oscar Romero will be beatified in San Salvador on May 23, according to Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, the president of the Pontifical Council for the Family.

Archbishop Paglia, the postulator of Archbishop Romero’s cause, made his announcement while in El Salvador.

The Italian Catholic newspaper Avvenire reported that Cardinal Angelo Amato, the prefect of the Congregation of the Causes of Saints, will preside at the beatification ceremony.
