Slovenian lawmakers approve same-sex marriage
March 05, 2015
Slovenia’s parliament has amended the country’s law on marriage, allowing for legal recognition of same-sex unions.
The new law, approved by a vote of 51 to 28, redefines marriage to allow for same-sex unions. Homosexual couples will also be eligible to adopt children.
Opponents of same-sex marriage have already begun circulating a petition to call for a referendum on the issue.
