Irish archbishop raps religious orders for slow implementation of sex-abuse policies

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin of Dublin has said that he is “appalled” by the slow response of religious orders in Ireland to the implementation of new guidelines for the handling of sex-abuse complaints.

The archbishop spoke out after an independent national board issued a report showing that some religious orders had failed to establish new systems for handling sex-abuse complaints until as late as 2013.
