Cardinal George reports doctors have 'run out of tricks' in cancer treatment
February 02, 2015
Chicago’s retired Cardinal Francis George has acknowledged that his doctors have “run out of tricks in the bag” in their treatment of his cancer.
Cardinal George, who stepped down last year after revealing that he was facing his second battle with cancer, told guests a testimonial dinner that “much of my life is now determined by my health.” He reported that he has good and bad days, like “anyone with a chronic illness.”
Honored by the Knights of Columbus with their Gaudium et Spes award, Cardinal George said that his retirement “makes my life a lot easier,” because there are fewer demands on his time and energy.
