Italian bishops' conference leader calls for quick election of new Italian president

Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, the president of the Italian bishops’ conference, has called for the prompt election of a new Italian president following the resignation of Giorgio Napolitano.
In an address to his fellow bishops, Cardinal Bagnasco said that the government’s top priority should be the economy, and more specifically the creation of jobs. The lingering economic crisis still “haunts many families,” he said.
