Insurer denies responsibility for sex-abuse claims against Minnesota archdiocese
December 31, 2014
The CNA insurance company has told a Minnesota court that it should not be responsible for payment of sex-abuse claims against the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis.
CNA argues that the sex-abuse claims were the result of wrongful actions by archdiocesan officials– that the claims were “not unexpected or unforeseen.” The corporation also says that the archdiocese has made claims against some policies that were not in force.
CNA was responding to a suit entered by the St. Paul archdiocese, asking the court to force payment from insurers.
