Pope Francis names members of Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors

Nearly nine months after he instituted the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors and named eight members, Pope Francis has named nine new members to the commission, thus completing its composition.

The president of the commission is Cardinal Seán O’Malley of Boston, and the commission’s secretary is Msgr. Robert Oliver, a Boston priest who formerly served as the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith’s chief prosecutor in abuse cases.

The third American on the commission is Krysten Winter-Green, who served as director of AIDS ministry in the Diocese of Fall River, Massachusetts. “Krysten’s concentration in the areas of child abuse includes forensics, assessment and treatment of priest/clergy offenders,” according to the Holy See Press Office.

Other members of the commission come from Colombia, France, Ireland, the Philippines, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Zambia, Australia, Italy, Poland, Germany, and Argentina. Two abuse victims are members of the commission.
