Report: 4,000 Indian Christians to reconvert to Hinduism
December 11, 2014
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, a large Hindu nationalist organization in India, has announced that 4,000 Christians and 1,000 Muslims will reconvert to Hinduism on Christmas Day, according to a report from AsiaNews.
The event will take place in Aligarh, a city of 1.2 million that is 81% Hindu and 17% Muslim.
Father Francis Arackal, a Dominican, linked the announcement to upcoming elections and said that the organization “hasn’t really understood the essence of Indian culture and the essence of the Hindu religion. No wonder they are doing the cheap conversions.”
