Belfast business owner faces prosecution over refusal to make cake promoting same-sex marriage
November 07, 2014
The Equality Commission for Northern Ireland, where same-sex marriage is not legal, has vowed to prosecute the manager of a baking company who refused to bake a cake with the message, “Support gay marriage.”
QueerSpace, a homosexual activist organization, ordered the cake from the Ashers Baking Company in May, according to a Reuters report.
“Ashers Baking Company is willing to serve any customer regardless of their sexual lifestyle,” said general manager Daniel McArthur, “but we don't want to be forced to promote a cause which is against our biblical beliefs.”
