At UN, Vatican envoy presses for renewal of Israel-Palestinian peace process

November 06, 2014

The Vatican’s representative at the UN has called upon leaders to push for renewal of the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, to break a “vicious cycle of violence.”

Archbishop Bernardito Auza, speaking to a session on Palestinian refugees, relayed an appeal by Pope Francis to the international community “to use its influence and economic resources to engage the disputing parties in substantive dialogue.”

The archbishop reiterated the long-held position of the Vatican that a lasting peace should be based on a two-state solution and international guarantees to preserve access to the holy places of Jerusalem.

And make sure you pay close attention to the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, his (and Egypt's) connections with the Nazis during and after WWII. The UN was different then, too, finally fulfilling the longstanding promise of a Jewish homeland - created out of the British administration of Arab lands. The mufti's nephew was Arafat of terrorist PLO fame. Let's not conveniently forget how the surrounding countries tried to eradicate a whole people, just as the Nazis tried. Hamas and ISIS - terrorists all.

I would encourage everyone interested in this situation to go back and read the history of the decision to give part of Palestine to the Jews for a homeland. Unless you know the history, all of it, you can't really begin to understand why the so called "peace process" is always a sad defeat. Don't limit yourself to reading only one side. Remember, Pope St. Pius X refused to help Theodore Herzl in his attempt to gain Palestine for very good reasons.

The settlements need to stop in the occupied lands. This is why there is a renewal of violence. This is not about Israel's right to exist, it's about honoring the peace process.

Two bombings by Hamas in Jerusalem in a week is not the way to secure Israeli cooperation, but the terrorist group knows that. Does the Vatican and the UN?
