Vatican official visits Syria to assess humanitarian needs

The secretary of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum has returned to Rome after a mission to Syria, where he spoke with groups involved in providing humanitarian aid to refugees.

Msgr. Giampetro Dal Toso participated in a meeting of the Syrian Catholic bishops, who conveyed their gratitude to the Holy See for help in providing relief for refugees fleeing from the Islamic State and victims of the continuing violence in Syria. The bishops reported that humanitarian efforts in their country will need even more support in future months.
