Ebola vaccines being developed from aborted fetal cell lines

October 16, 2014

Vaccines being developed to fight the Ebola epidemic use cell lines drawn from aborted babies, reports the non-profit group Children of God for Life.

“There is absolutely no reason to use aborted fetal cell lines,” says Debi Vinnedge, the director of the pro-life group, since cell lines drawn from chicken eggs would produce equally satisfactory results. The group is urging pro-life Americans to contact federal government official, urging fast-track approval for vaccines developed from other cell lines.

The Vatican has said that Catholics can be justified in using vaccines drawn from fetal cell lines in cases of urgency, but should always press for development of vaccines developed from morally acceptable sources.
