October 07, 2014
In the Diocese of Maiduguri, in northern Nigeria, 185 churches have been burned in the past two months and nearly 200,000 driven from their homes because of raids by Boko Haram terrorists, the Fides news service reports.
Father Gideon Obasogie, the spokesman for the diocese, said that 11 cities in the region had been taken over by Boko Haram in recent offensives. Residents have fled, and are now crowded into makeshift shelters or the homes of relatives.
