Jordan’s king pledges to protect Arab Christians

September 18, 2014

In the face of the threat posed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, King Abdullah II of Jordan, a ruler known for his commitment to interreligious dialogue, has pledged to protect Arab Christians and support their presence in the Middle East, according to the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

“We were relieved to find that His Majesty was optimistic, as usual, despite the many challenges facing Jordan and the region,” said Patriarch Fouad Twal. “Jordan, in its entirety, has always been home and shelter for all.”
