Full schedule set for Pope's September visit to Albania

July 31, 2014

The Vatican has released a full schedule for the visit to Albania in September by Pope Francis.

The Pope will leave Rome early on Sunday morning, September 21, arriving at Tirana's airport (which is named for Mother Teresa), where he will be greeted by Prime Minister Edi Rama. After a courtesy visit to President Bujar Nishani, he will meet with other Albanian political leaders.

At 11, the Pope will celebrate Mass in Mother Teresa Square. After lunch with the Albanian bishops, he will address other religious leaders in the afternoon at the Catholic University. After Vespers with the Catholic community, he will visit a charitable center serving children in Tirana.

The tightly scheduled one-day visit will conclude at 7:45, when the Pope's plan leaves for Rome, where it will arrive at 9:30.
