Italian prosecutor asks Church to 'isolate' crime bosses

An Italian prosecutor has said that Catholic priests can play a key role in defeating the power of organized crime, by encouraging the faithful to “isolate” the crime bosses.

Federico Cafiero De Raho, a prosecutor in Reggio Calabria, said that the typical leader of the ‘Ndrangheta crime syndicate “believes he is above the Pope.” The attitudes of the crime families are pagan, he said, and condemnations from the Church will have an impact.
