Failed kidnapping attempt against Lebanese bishop
Catholic World News - March 26, 2014
A Lebanese bishop was the target of a kidnapping attempt that was foiled when his driver sped toward an army checkpoint, the Beirut-based Daily Star reported.
“What happened yesterday was a shameful act,” said Bishop Simon Atallah, the Maronite Catholic bishop of Baalbek-Deir El-Ahmar. “They most probably chased us for the money, but the danger lies in the repercussions of what could have happened.”
