Saudi police censor hundreds of volumes at book fair

March 18, 2014

Saudi religious police have forced the organizers of the Riyadh International Book Fair to remove more than 400 of the books on display, saying that they offend against Islam or the security of the Saudi regime.

More than 10,000 copies, of 420 titles, were pulled from the book fair. Police cited “blasphemous” contents, feminist messages, and other offenses.
