Vatican expects budget shortfall, adopts hiring freeze
February 25, 2014

When employees leave, current workers will be asked to “generously take on” other duties, according to a Catholic News Service report.
Cardinal Pietro Parolin also called for an end to the “habitual recurrence” of working overtime and urged offices to make greater use of volunteers.
