Pope enjoys 88% popularity in US, CNN poll shows

Pope Francis enjoys enormous popularity with the American public, a new CNN poll shows.
The CCN/ORC International poll found that 88% of Americans approve of the Pope’s performance. Similar survey results in other countries suggest that the Pontiff is the world’s most popular religious leader today.

I give the Holy Father a thumbs up. However, since almost 9 out of 10 of my countrymen do also, I worry that I've overlooked something.

As if popularity was an important measure, even among Catholics. But then, popularity is very important when secular culture promotes narcissism as a virtue.
