December 23, 2013

Pope Francis paid a visit on his predecessor, Pope-emeritus Benedict XVI, on December 23, to offer his Christmas wishes.

Benedict XVI met his successor at the door of his residence in the Mater Ecclesiae monastery, and the two spent a few minutes together in prayer in the chapel of the residence. They then spent about 30 minutes in private conversation.

Pope Francis met with the staff of the Mater Ecclesiae residence, offering Christmas blessings to all, before his departure.
