Patriarchs are ‘opposed to any foreign armed intervention in Syria’

Catholic World News - September 03, 2013

The Patriarch of the Maronite Catholic Church and the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch emphasized in a joint statement that they are “opposed to any foreign armed intervention in Syria.”

Cardinal Béchara Boutros Raï and Patriarch John X of Antioch said that they were “deeply comforted by the Pope’s appeal” for a day of prayer for peace in the Middle East, since war “brings nothing but destruction and ruin,” the Fides news agency reported.
