Malta's prime minister meets with Pontiff

Pope Francis met on June 24 with Prime Minister Joseph Muscat of Malta, for a conversation that touched on the history of the Mediterranean nation, the visits there by Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI, and the need to preserve the country's strong Catholic culture.
The Pope took note of Malta's historic role as a refuge for migrants, and voiced his hope that this tradition would be continued.
