$23M given to retired religious from national collection

The National Religious Retirement Office has granted $23 million to 439 religious communities to help pay for medication, nursing care, and other expenses associated with the care of retired religious.
The grants were funded by an annual collection taken up in parishes in the United States in December. The office is jointly sponsored by the Conference of Major Superiors of Men, the Council of Major Superiors of Women Religious, the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
