Russian Catholic bishops encouraged to pursue both ecumenism and evangelization

Pope Benedict XVI met on January 29 with the bishops of Russia, who were completing their ad limina visits. The Pontiff encouraged them to continue their efforts to draw people back into active religious life, acknowledging that the challenge is a difficult one. He asked them for "a renewed commitment to dialogue with our Orthodox brothers and sisters" as the Moscow patriarchate takes on a new leader.
