South Korean prelate to lead 600 priests on pilgrimage for peace

June 06, 2013

Archbishop Andrew Yeom Soo-jung of Seoul will lead 600 priests on a walking pilgrimage in South Korea’s capital to pray for peace between the South and the Communist North. Pilgrimage sites include the cathedral and shrines dedicated to the Korean martyrs.

The pilgrimage, which will take place on the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, “is not only a time for priests to reflect on their duties of priesthood, but also a good opportunity to let many people know the Korean martyrs and reflect on their faith,” he said. “In addition, in 2013 we celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the Korean War: through this event, we pray for authentic peace on the Korean peninsula.”
