Swiss president meets with Pope

Catholic World News - May 06, 2013

Pope Francis met on May 6 with Ueli Maurer, the president of the Swiss Confederation, who was at the Vatican to witness the swearing-in of new members of the Swiss Guard.

A brief Vatican statement released after the meeting indicated that the talks had centered on the good relations between Switzerland and the Holy See, the illustrious history of the Swiss Guard, and a mutual commitment to promoting human rights.
