Islamic rebels target churches, prelates in Central African Republic
CWN - March 21, 2013
A bishop in the Central African Republic has said that he is a target of Islamic rebels.
“They have a list of people to hit,” said Bishop Juan José Aguirre Muños of Bangassou, speaking of the Seleka rebel coalition that entered his city last week. “I am the first, followed by my vicar.”
The rebels have been defacing and looting churches, the bishop reported. “They respected only mosques,” he added.
