Sri Lanka: high casualties in refugee campsl bishop pleads for end to shelling

Bishop Thomas Saundaranayagam of Jaffna has issued an appeal to the military leadership of Sri Lanka to end the aerial bombardment of the area around a refugee camp, where 17 people were killed and dozens wounded in a recent barrage. Church leaders have also asked the government and rebel Tamil Tigers to allow humanitarian relief workers access to the area, which had previously been established as a "neutral zone."
