Chad rescinds bishop's deportation
January 02, 2013
The government of Chad has announced that Bishop Michele Russo of Doba will be allowed to return to his diocese, revoking a deportation order.
In October the government had ordered Bishop Russo to leave the country after the Italian-born prelate delivered a sermon criticizing profiteering in the oil industry and hinting at the government’s complicity in price-gouging.
