USCCB approves nearly $5M in grants to Haiti, Latin America

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Subcommittee on the Church in Latin America has approved over $4.9 million in grants to assist the Church in the Caribbean and Latin America.
The grants include $2.6 million for the reconstruction of churches and schools in Haiti, as well as funds for the reconstruction of churches in Cuba damaged by Hurricane Sandy. Other grants will assist World Youth Day and support the formation of clergy, seminarians, and religious.
The annual collection for the Church in Latin America takes place in US parishes in January.
