Cardinal Dolan: no capitulation on HHS mandate
CWN - November 14, 2012
Cardinal Timothy Dolan has reiterated that the Catholic Church will not consent to the contraceptive mandate imposed by the Obama administration.
Speaking in his capacity as president of the US episcopal conference, the New York prelate told reporters that the American bishops are exploring every means of resolving their conflict with the federal government on the mandate. “I would say no door is closed except for the door to capitulation,” he said.
“The only thing we’re certainly not prepared to do is give in,” Cardinal Dolan said.
