Violence erupts at pro-abortion demonstration outside Buenos Aires cathedral

CWN - November 08, 2012

Pro-abortion demonstrators clashed with police outside the Catholic cathedral in Bueno Aires, Argentina, in an angry confrontation that spilled over into violence.

At least one police office was hospitalized after the demonstrators, throwing eggs and waving sticks, attacked a line of police protecting the cathedral. Lay Catholics who had been praying inside the cathedral formed a second line of defense outside the building.

The anti-Catholic demonstration, taking place on the anniversary of a vote that fell short of legalizing abortion, was the second assault on a cathedral in Argentina in recent weeks.
