US ambassador ends assignment at Holy See
CWN - November 06, 2012
Miguel Diaz, the US ambassador to the Holy See, has announced that he is leaving the post, to return to academic life.
Diaz, who was appointed by President Barack Obama and took office in August 2009, had reportedly planned to announce his resignation later this month, after the US presidential elections. But the Vatican announced on November 5 that the American envoy had met with Pope Benedict in a “farewell visit” before leaving Rome.
