Uruguay's Jesuit leaders rebuke priest for supporting legal abortion

Jesuit superiors in Uruguay have voiced their “deep regret” that a Jesuit priest there expressed support for legislation allowing legal abortion.
The views expressed by Father Jose Ignacio Gonzalez Faus, SJ, “in no way reflect our thoughts and viewpoints,” the country’s Jesuit leaders said. The priest’s statements “have done nothing more than create confusion,” the superiors said.
