November consistory forces postponement of Asian bishops' meeting
Catholic World News - October 31, 2012
When he made the surprise announcement that he would elevate new cardinals at a consistory on November 24, Pope Benedict XVI upset plans for a meeting of Asian bishops.
The Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conference had planned its 10th assembly for November 16- 25. Considerable planning and negotiation had been needed to settle plans for the event, which was to take place in Vietnam. Now, with many Asian bishops expected to attend the November consistory—at which two Asian prelates will be elevated to the College of Cardinals—the Asian bishops’ meeting will have to be rescheduled.
