Man cheated 91-year-old priest out of $500,000

CWN - October 31, 2012

A Buffalo man has admitted cheating a priest out of over $500,000 between 2001 and July 2012.

The priest, now 91, had invested well over the years, according to the district attorney.

Richard Kesick, 57—whom the district attorney called “an especially loathsome and despicable swindler”—told the priest that he needed money to pay kidnappers a ransom and to pay for medical expenses.

“This isn’t a naive person,” another prosecutor said of the priest. “This is a very bright but caring person who wanted to help someone.”
