In new ad, Biden emphasizes he is a ‘practicing Catholic’

October 30, 2012

In a new campaign advertisement, Vice President Joe Biden emphasized that he is a practicing Catholic and said that President Barack Obama’s healthcare initiatives have advanced Catholic social teaching.

“As a practicing Catholic like many of you, I was raised in a household where there was absolutely no distinction between the values my mom and dad drilled into us and what I learned from the nuns and priests who educated me,” said Biden. “We call it Catholic social doctrine: ‘Whatever you do to the least of these, you do for me.’”

People that kill babies are not practicing Catholics.

This new election video by Vice President Biden touting his Catholicism to Catholic voters is an outrage. As a proponent of abortion and same sex marriage the Vice President knows full well that he is in open defiance of the Church and that he is NOT a Catholic in good standing - as he implies in his video. The USCCB should immediately issue a public response to the video that will set the record straight.

Since the beginning and throughout the ages the Catholic Church has taught that contraception, abortion, homosexuality, and other sexual sins are wrong. If one works for Apple and tries to sell Samsung he/she will be sacked in no time. Teachers of Catholic faith have to present authentic Catholic teachings and not an immitation or counterfeit.

Social teaching and pro-life are not “either-or” but “both-and.” It is an injustice against man and the common good when Obama/Biden ignore man’s essence by shamelessly promoting and expanding assaults against human dignity and the common good via intrinsically evil acts of abortion, euthanasia, homosexual marriage, human cloning and embryonic stem cell research.  Those actions violate not only Catholic beliefs but also the natural law written by God on the hearts of every person.

Mr Biden should sit down with the bishop of Green Bay. He will tell him in no uncertain terms that politicians who support abortion are not only endangering their own souls, they are endangering the souls of people who have abortions. The teaching of the church is very clear on this and the Vice President is wrong when he says he is a practicing Catholic. At best, he is a fallen Catholic and all I can do is pray that he will amend his ways, go to confession and ask God to have mercy on him.

It is very hard to believe that even V.P. Biden believes his own statement that he is a practicing Catholic. His view that social justice issues in the Church are more important than doctrine is very symptomatic of left wing Catholics. Individual Catholics who support unlimited abortion place their souls in immortal danger. Mr. Biden claims that he himself does not support abortion. He will not speak out in support of Catholic precepts and feels very comfortable not doing so.

So - will his Bishop just let this ad go - and let him influence others - perhaps young Catholics in a negative way - or will the Bishop make a public correction to prevent scandal hurting others?

Well, tell me when he's finished practicin', and gets ready to do it right.

Hmmm... It appears that like so many in his generation, something was missing from his catechitical instructions.

Oh, for cryin out loud. Is there a Bishop anywhere who will call out this man for his flaming hypocrisy and distortion of Church teaching? How long, oh Lord?

That's like someone saying "even though I am living unmarried with my girlfriend, I am a practicing husband." Thinking it doesn't make it so. Catholic social teaching cannot be separated from Catholic moral teaching. To do so is to rip apart the faith.
