Ex-priests support same-sex marriage in Washington

Catholic World News - October 10, 2012

A group of 63 former Catholic priests has released a statement supporting a measure to legalize same-sex marriage in Washington.

“We are uneasy with the aggressive efforts of Catholic bishops to oppose R-74 [the measure that would grant legal recognition to same-sex unions],” the ex-priests say. Their public stand is intended to counteract the bishops’ public campaign to protect marriage.

    The Church is better off without priests like this who value their own opinions over centuries of Church teaching.
