CDF reportedly questioning dissident Irish priest
October 10, 2012
An Irish priest who was silenced earlier this year because of his dissent from Church teachings is now facing further questions from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, according to the Irish Independent.
Father Tony Flannery, a founder of the dissident Association of Catholic Priests, has been asked to retract his public statements in support of women’s ordination and in opposition to Church teaching on contraception and on homosexuality, the Independent reports.
Father Flannery, a Redemptorist priest, had written a regular monthly column for Reality, a magazine published by his religious order, for 14 years. In April his column was suspended on orders from the Vatican.
