Two eminent Catholic writers, Father Alexander Lucie-Smith of London's Catholic Herald and David Quinn in the Irish Catholic, argue that in his final interview, published posthumously, the late Cardinal Carlo Martini was not undermining Catholic orthodoxy but calling for a genuine spiritual renewal in the Church. Although their arguments represent a minority view, they are presented cogently.
