Pope urges prayers for peace in Gaza
January 05, 2009
Violence will not resolve the problems of the Holy Land, Pope Benedict XVI said at his Angelus audience on January 4, as he joined all the Christian leaders of Jerusalem in urging the faithful to pray for an end to the latest fighting in Gaza. "War and hatred are not a solution to problems," he said. Instead, he said, the fighting causes "situations that weigh unspeakably on the populations who are again victim to hatred and war."
