God's 'radiant beauty' expressed in art, Pope says after concert

August 13, 2012

Following a concert presented at his summer residence in Castel Gandolfo on August 11, Pope Benedict XVI spoke of the “radiant beauty and life force of the Creator” that is expressed in great art.

This “divine claritas” enables mankind to “grow beyond ourselves,” the Pope remarked to the audience.

The Saturday-evening concert featured cellist Thomas Beckmann, accompanied by Kayoko Matsushita, Yuko Kasahara, and the Regensburg vocal assemble Cantico.
