Tens of thousands honor Our Lady of Guadalupe in Los Angeles
CWN - August 06, 2012
The Archdiocese of Los Angeles and Knights of Columbus sponsored a Guadalupe Celebration at the Los Angeles Coliseum on August 5. Media estimates of attendance at the event, which included prayer, speakers, and music, ranged from 45,000 to 100,000.
Our Lady “is calling us to dedicate our lives to the loving plan of God,” said Archbishop José Gomez of Los Angeles. “To everything for his glory, in our homes, in our families, in our neighborhoods and communities, in our political life.”
“Our Lady of Guadalupe is not only the Mother of the people of Mexico,” he continued. “She is the Mother of all the peoples of the Americas. She is the New Eve. She is the Mother of all the living.”
“Jesus Christ wants to make use of us,” he added, “just as he made use of St. Juan Diego … He wants us to be apostles and missionaries. And Our Lady of Guadalupe will accompany us in all our endeavors.”
