Gaza: reports of forced conversions to Islam

Catholic World News - July 27, 2012

Hundreds of Christians gathered outside a church in Gaza amid allegations that two Christians were recently kidnapped and forced to convert to Islam.

Hiba Daoud, a woman who was reportedly kidnapped, appeared on television and said she converted of her own free will.

A Greek Orthodox prelate appealed for the return of Daoud and her children to their home.

“We do not want any problem,” said Archbishop Alexios. “We want peace and harmony to prevail among us.”
