USCCB announces NFP Awareness Week

CWN - July 13, 2012

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has announced that a national Natural Family Planning Awareness Week with the theme “Faithfully Yours” will take place from July 22-28 in US dioceses. The timing of the week coincides with the anniversary of the publication of Pope Paul VI’s 1968 encyclical Humanae Vitae.

Homily notes prepared by USCCB staff include the suggestion to preach on the theme “Make Jesus the Shepherd and King of your Family” as well as on the HHS mandate. “This new mandate requires all employers to pay for contraceptive coverage, even potentially abortifacient chemical contraceptives,” the homily notes state. “Many people do not understand that all chemical contraceptives have a secondary action which may prevent new human life from implanting in the mother’s womb.”
